A hotel cannot
look like a
deployment.

Hospitality has one constraint no other sector shares: the environment is the product. Anything visible to a guest is a design problem before it is an engineering one, and that shapes the whole approach.

  • Infrastructure has to disappear. Above ceilings, inside fittings, behind existing fixtures — and installed without a corridor being closed during peak season.
  • The building is never empty. Works happen floor by floor, at night, around occupancy. Programme management is most of the difficulty.
  • Guest privacy is not negotiable. These systems track staff and equipment. Designing so that guests cannot be tracked is a requirement, and saying so plainly is what makes it acceptable to the team as well.
  • Devices are worn all day. If a panic device is uncomfortable, ugly or awkward to charge, it will be left in a locker — and then the compliance box is ticked and the worker is not protected.
